Biography

Demonstrating a passion and flare for Jazz and Soul vocals is Leeds finest vocalist Georgina Barr. Her chic, effortless style and connection to the music leaves audiences begging for more. “With an education from Leeds College of Music and a history of gigs around the world, her bubbly personality, impeccable delivery and hard working nature promise her a very bright future” John Marley, The York Press, September 2014. Her timeless style and effortless musicianship show through in all settings. There is no saying where her already blossoming career will take her.

 

Georgina Barr is a Leeds based vocalist specializing in jazz and the Great American Song Book. From starting out with the Leeds Youth Jazz Orchestra at the age of 17 she was given the Opportunity to perform in South Africa in 2010 and at many local Jazz Festivals. The exposure and experience from this band allowed Georgina to grow musically and become the front woman in her own ensembles and projects. In 2013 she began studying for her music degree at the Leeds College of Music and has had the privilege of studying under Kari Blevik, Simon Kaylor, Jamie Taylor, Jamil Sheriff, Rob Mitchell, Sebastian De Krom and Claire Martin, OBE. She has already made some promising contacts within the Jazz community and has had many opportunities to showcase her work across the country.

 

Along with Georgina’s Jazz background she also fronts several successful function bands and has made fantastic collaborations with artists in the vein of Robert Glasper. Within her function work she reveals enviable skills in pop and soul, demonstrating that she is versatile in her field of work and is able to explore many different avenues of singing in many different genres. After graduation Georgina hopes to carry on with her function work and tour with one of her Jazz projects.
